“Janet’s blog is a tremendous resource, but as my son began preschool, I felt overwhelmed with new challenges and needed more personal advice… In one conversation, I gained back my confidence, learned new skills (that work!) and felt the support I desperately needed. Consulting with Janet is like talking to the brilliant, straight-talking, warm, dear friend you need as a mom.” – Pamela G.
Dear Parents and Professionals:
I am privileged to receive hundreds of emails with personal requests for advice pertaining to infants, toddlers and preschoolers. I read as many as I can and do my best to provide thoughtful, detailed answers to as many as my limited time will allow.
Often, however, I am not able to offer suggestions until weeks – even months – after a particular question is submitted, so the time for constructive action has passed. This is very frustrating for me.
Also, the situations and parent/child dynamics you describe often don’t give me enough information to offer sound advice. I have questions, and without dialogue I can’t be as helpful as I’d like.
Many of you have expressed interest in learning more about Magda Gerber’s Educaring Approach but don’t have classes in your area. I’m eager to deepen your understanding of this method, provide you with a detailed introduction or help you fine tune specific practices.
All of that said, I’ve decided to open my phone consultation service to online readers. I’m excited for the opportunity to address your issues in a more thorough and timely manner. It’s not a perfect solution, but between family, writing, teaching and coaching, it seems a viable option.
My fees are $120 (US) for one hour, $70 for ½ hour, payable in advance via PayPal.
If you’d like to make an appointment for a private phone consultation, please provide the information below in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. In the subject line, please write “consult”. Don’t forget to suggest days/times that you are available.
Subject – Questions/Problems: By providing me with a brief description of your issue(s) previous to our appointment, you will help me to best utilize our time and prepare resources for you. If I don’t feel personally qualified to guide you, I will refer you to another professional.

“The past 3 days have already been much better – all because of the change in my words and actions. Thanks for all of your help. I wish I could spend a whole day with you!” – Jovan
“… There’s no doubt that the changes we’ve seen this week are due to my conversation with you. You said just what we needed to hear, and we are all better off for it. Many thanks!” – Rebecca W.
“Everything worked like a dream. The mealtimes with C. are going great! This is a huge win for me. Thank you so much!! – Michelle D.
“… We have been implementing the suggestions you made and having great results. We have been doing uninterrupted play outdoors once a day too, and even nursing outdoors once a day. I have also worked on transitioning her slower to play on her own. She is really enjoying it! Her naps are still short, but she is sleeping even better at night now! Thanks for all your help!” – Arsy
“Rob and I were very happy with our consult with you a few weeks ago. We’ve been having much more ease with A. around meal times and diapering. She is still expressing a lot in regards to her new sister, but it’s getting better as we continue to acknowledge her feelings. Thank you so much!” – Elizabeth D.
